Outdoor activities for your health winter time

How easy it is to enjoy the outdoors when it’s warm and sunny! Walk on the beach and watch a sunset, or work in the garden in spring time and see flowers come to life. My favorite though is going on a hike to see beautiful foliage in the fall. Winter on the other hand is time for hibernation for most folks including me and my family. All I want to do is curl up on the sofa with a warm cup of tea and binge watch a favorite show on DVR. That was until we discovered skiing.

Not a big fan of cold weather, my winter months were spent breathing recycled air in the office, then at home, then in the car, with short runs from my parking spot to the next stuffy air destination. That’s not good since breathing is one of the best detoxification and relaxation practices, and you want a fresh, full oxygen supply for that. Surprised my lungs didn’t start a revolution and demanded some fresh air. Skiing gave us a gift of exercise outdoors for hours as a family with numerous rewards. First the thrill and adventure – speeding down the hill gives you such a rush; sense of accomplishment – my daughter went down on blue for the first time and was so proud(yay!); bonding as a family – recounting good and tricky runs, watching each other improving and cheering each other on; mind and body – for sure getting stronger physically and mentally. If you never tried it, give it a chance even if you are not a winter lover like me. Watch your kids pick it up super-fast,  and see their smiley faces with rose cheeks flying down the hill. Believe me you will love every minute of it!
