Hello! My name is Natalie and I am a food blogger, nutrition enthusiast, a wife, a mom and an accidental New Yorker.
Born and raised in Russia in a health loving family, I have always lead a healthy lifestyle and learned to shop and cook in a healthy way. I grew up reading nutrition books, medical journals, and all the latest studies on physical and mental health. When studying in the University back in Russia I met my husband and it was love at first sight. He was moving to the US and in a short year after we met, I found myself in the middle of one of the greatest cities in the world NYC. I fell in love with this city the way I did with my husband. I live in NY most of my life and consider myself a true New Yorker. My family and I live in Westchester county just north of the city. I love country like setting even though consider myself a city girl. Being a health nut that I am, I love the fresh air, be close to nature, have my own vegetable garden and standing on the grass barefoot in the morning catching the sunrise. I am not a medical professional and any advice or recipes on this blog shouldn’t be used without your doctor’s approval. I cook easy to follow recipes with a healthy spin. I always think how I can take a tried and true traditional recipe and making it healthier by bumping up the nutrition value but never sacrificing the taste. A little changes, can make a big difference. Your family may not even notice but would appreciate it. There is so much nutrition advise out there, and food recommendation change from expert to expert, that I decided to put all the knowledge that I acquired over the years into an easy to follow blog. I am tired of reading an article only to find out that you need to purchase a book to find more, or a health expert who can’t wait to help but only if you pay lots of money for nutrition visit, or doctors who found an alternative treatment for a condition but won’t take insurance. I think we all deserve to be healthy and stay healthy without paying a premium. It’s so popular now days to say that you eat organically grown, locally produced, seasonal ingredience. Do you know that we already knew that way back when in the middle of Russia and that’s how we ate when I grew up? It was all local and only seasonal and even though it wasn’t certified organic, there were no chemicals available or approved by farmers themselves to be used on the produce that they didn’t just sell on the farmers market but fed to their families as well. I am very excited to take this exciting journey into health and food blogger world with you and you never have to pay. All basic things in life should be free!
One of my favorite doctors to consult about anything is Dr. Weil. His website is easy to navigate and full of great advice – http://www.drweil.com/
