Importance of drinking water

We all heard that we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated, but is there more to the story? Does it matter what time of day we drink the water? Does the water temperature matter? The answer to these questions is yes. The most important water you are drinking during the day is your morning water. IMG_0613You need to drink a few glasses of warm water, not cold, as soon as you wake up, even before you brush your teeth or jump in the shower. This warm water will nourish your cells, your blood, cleans colon, balance lymph nodes, and of course keep your skin looking younger and more hydrated . It may not taste great, but the water must be warm not ice cold otherwise your kidneys will have to work extra hard to warm it up and it defeats the purpose. How many cups? Different sources say that you need anywhere from 2 to 6 cups to see the benefits of “water cure”. Whatever you decide for yourself, start slowly and increase the number of cups little by little. Don’t eat right after you drink your water. It is said that you need to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour before having your coffee. It’s easier than you think – by the time you get your kids out of bed and done making lunches, the hour will just fly by. There is so much written about drinking water (articles, books) by the scientific community and especially Japanese scientists who are known for their interest in longevity, that it makes an easy and safe decision to follow their advice and apply this knowledge in your family life. My kids know that the first think they do the morning is drink water and the number of cups is changing based on age. Now that we know to drink water first thing in the morning, let’s talk about drinking your water the rest of the day. It is advised to drink water at least 15 minutes before any meal, and not to drink water for at least an hour after meal. Drinking right after may dilute stomach acid and slow digestion process. Any google search will provide hundreds if not thousands of resources about drinking water and I hope you and family will start first thing tomorrow morning.
