We all love decadent desserts. In fact, when I am having guests over for a small get-together or a big party, the first thing that people offer to bring is dessert. If I am too polite to say no to their well-meaning offer, we end up with cakes, ice creams and other dessert goodies that are loaded with calories and sugar.
The truth is desserts do taste good and we do not want to feel deprived by skipping dessert all togehter. I love finding delicious alternatives that will satify my geusts’s sweet tooth and mine. I loved Giada’s recipe and just put a healthy twist of my own and remade these delicious cups my way. First I assembled it in chapagne fluits to make it even fancier – we eat with our eyes first, and champagne reminds me of vacation time in France. My guests were excited even before they had a chance to try it. I learned from Ina Garten that entertaining is much easier if you find recepis that can be made in advance. These choclocate cups can be made a day or two in advance and will taste great. Here are some of the swaps I used: stevia instead of sugar to sweeten my espresso. There is a lof good and bad written on arificial sweetners, but stevia seemed to have stood the test of time and got an approval from trusted experts. Another swap that I use a lot is greek yogurt that can wipped like cream with some raw honey, and dusted with cinnamon. All these ingrideince have numerious health benefits from flavonids in dark chocolate, proboitics in yogurt that keep our gut flora healthy to raw honey that has been used as medicine for centuries, to cinnamon that is siad to help control blood sugar levels. Here are my easy steps to put it all together. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
